Award-winning national design firm, Beasley & Henley Interior Design, is at the forefront of the latest wave of multi-family design sweeping the US.
“Multi-family is hot right now,” says Principal Stephanie Henley. “We work in many markets and it is definitely the Millenials who are re-shaping the direction of Interior Design across the board.”
The award winning design firm, currently has more than two- dozen projects in the SouthEast, with five in Central Florida. Two of their projects are located in Orlando - Aviva at Celebration for Atlanta based developer, Hines and Elan at Audubon Park for national developer Greystar.
Millenials are often defined as tech-driven, late marrying, student loan laden, independent thinkers. In their interior spaces they crave communal areas with personal alcoves, coffee bars with gourmet selections, dog parks for their starter ‘children’, and internet cafes to stay connected. They also want a lot of variety and experiences in their lives and in their interior design.
“A key word we hear a lot from this group is ‘authentic’ as it relates to design, relates Design Principal Troy Beasley. “Millenials don’t want the design to be forced or fake.”
They want their multi-family living to be a reflection of the community in which it is located. No faux Mediterranean in Central Florida, no New York modern in downtown Orlando, no beach-y look in land-locked College Park.
For Beasley & Henley’s current Orlando multi-family projects, appealing to this interior design demand is key.
At the Elan at Audubon, Beasley & Henley taps into this area’s unique garden district appeal.
“Audubon Park thrives on a modern approach with a healthy mix of earthy elements and finishes,” says Beasley.
The design team infuses the interiors of this luxury community with rustic furnishings and finishes blended with the mid-century modern style of the area’s architecture. True to its neighborhood, it will feature natural wood tones, rustic metal details, mid-century furnishings and organic lighting.
For Aviva at Celebration, Beasley & Henley’s interior design will reflect the subtle Art Deco designs of the town of Celebration where this 300-unit project is located. Appealing to a sophisticated clientele, the interiors for these Millenials will be modern with a nod to Deco décor and detailing, such as geometric shapes, sophisticated furnishings, bold lighting, and smooth materials.
As Millenials move into the next phases of their lives, expect them to continue to dominate and influence interior design.
As with all their projects, the Beasley & Henley team is creating the entire interior package for Hines and Greystar by putting together the floor plan, interior architectural details, specifications, interior design budgets and FFE. Their goal is create an attractive and functional lifestyle experience for the end user, enabling the developer to draw the best tenants and help maintain the highest rents.
